Privacy and cookies

What happens to your data when you open this site or write to us.

This site is a showcase: it tells the story of the concerts we produce and offers a form to write to us. It does not ask you to register, it has no members’ area for visitors, it does not sell tickets. Below is everything it does with data, in order. It is written from how the site really works, measured page by page with a real browser on 14 October 2026, not copied from a template.

Cookies and browser storage

We opened every page of the site in a clean browser, without touching anything, and counted what stays in the browser. There is only one cookie, and it is ours:

  • zen_sid, a random code used to count visits (explained below, in “Counting visits”). It is created on the first page you open and is the same on every visit from this browser, as long as you come back within 180 days of the last one; only our server can read it, and it contains neither your name nor anything else about you.

No cookies from anyone else, not even when you start a video. Visit counting is our own tool, which under the rules of the Garante, the Italian data protection authority (cookie guidelines of 10 June 2021), counts as a technical cookie and needs no consent: that is why you find no banner to accept. If you would rather not be counted, there is the “Don’t count me” button further down; your choice is kept in a second cookie, zen_nocount, which lasts 400 days from your last visit and only serves to remember it.

In the browser’s storage the site writes at most four entries, and only when they are needed; none of them expires by itself, and you remove them by clearing the site’s data in your browser:

  • zen-lingua, if you choose the language yourself with the IT EN switch: the site remembers it and stops moving you;
  • zen-lingua-auto, in the tab’s storage: it says the site has already taken you once to your browser’s language, and it disappears when you close the tab;
  • zenegg-disp and zenegg-nome, only if you open the logo game: the first travels to us with every game, the second when you save your nickname (explained below).

The first two stay on your device and never travel to us.

If you write to us through the form

At the bottom of every page there is the “Write to us” form. It asks for three things: name, email address and message; the page you write from and its language travel with them. Against spam there is a hidden field, which people do not see and automated programs fill in, and a limit on the messages that can be sent in an hour, counted on the email address and on the IP address; the IP address stays only in the server’s memory and is not saved.

When you send it, two things happen:

  • the message is saved in the site’s database, in the management area: it is read by us and by the people who look after the site on our behalf, each signing in with their own credentials; there they can mark how far the reply has got, add a note and download the list of messages;
  • an email notice goes to whoever answers the site’s messages for Zen Production, with your name, the message and your address so we can reply. It is sent by Resend, an email delivery service, which sees its content in order to deliver it. If more than thirty messages arrive from the site in one hour, the extra ones are saved but no notice goes out.

We do not send you a copy or an automatic confirmation: we reply ourselves. We use this data only to reply to you and to follow up on what you ask. We do not use it to send you advertising, we do not pass it on to others and we do not add you to any list: the site has no newsletter.

Messages stay on the site for 24 months, then they are deleted automatically, together with the line the site keeps for every notice sent (who it went to and the subject, which carries your name); the notice stays in our mailbox for as long as it is needed to manage the relationship. If you want us to delete them sooner, write to us at the address below: we do it ourselves, by hand, within 30 days.

Counting visits

We count how many times the pages are opened with our own tool, which writes only to the site’s database: no third-party statistics service. Every time you open a page the site records:

  • the random code of the zen_sid cookie, the same on every visit from this browser: it tells us how many people come back, not who they are;
  • the address of the page, without parameters;
  • on your first visit, the site you come from, if you come from outside, reduced to its address without parameters, and the campaign parameters (utm) when there are any;
  • the country and region, which the service hosting the site works out from your IP address;
  • the type of device (phone, tablet or computer).

Besides pages we count a few gestures, always the same: a tap on the phone number or the email address, sending the form, the start and end of a round of the logo game with its score, the start of the flights on Venues, opening one of our short links, searches made on the site (the words searched, without email addresses or long numbers) and addresses that do not exist. Your IP address and browser details are not saved, and robots and the people who look after the site are not counted. In the database every page and every gesture is a row with the code and the time; the people who look after the site look at the counts in the dashboard.

The rows for pages and gestures are deleted automatically 24 months after they were written; the one that holds the code with the origin, the country and the type of device of the first visit, 24 months after your last visit.

If you would rather not be counted, press “Don’t count me”, below: from then on the site records nothing more from this browser, and the same button lets you back in. Visits already counted stay until they expire, and games are still saved.

Prefer not to be counted?

One button, and this device leaves the visit count.

The logo game

At the bottom of the pages, once the logo has come back together, you can try to rebuild it yourself: it’s a game. It loads only if you tap the invitation, and it all runs on our own site.

When you open it, your browser keeps a random code (zenegg-disp) that lets us recognise your games without knowing who you are, and that travels to us with every game. For every game you submit we save the score, the length, the language, the time and that code in the site’s database. You join the leaderboard only by choice, by saving a nickname, which the browser remembers for next time (zenegg-nome) and which is the only detail visible to others: no email, no first and last name, no profile. Nicknames go through a filter, and the people who look after the site can take one off the leaderboard; to do it quickly, when a new one arrives the moderators get a Telegram notice with the nickname, the score, the position on the leaderboard and the player’s internal number, and nothing else. Your IP address is only used to slow down anyone playing with an automated program: it stays in the server’s memory, which loses it at every restart, and we don’t record it.

Games are kept for 24 months, like the form messages, then they are deleted automatically; the leaderboard, that is the nicknames with their best score and the code of the browser that created them, stays for as long as the game is online. The leaderboard of the previous game, which lived at another address, has been copied here with its nicknames and games. If you want your nickname to disappear, write to us at the address below: we take it off the leaderboard and, if you ask, we also delete your games, by hand, within 30 days.

Videos, images and typefaces

The photographs, the typefaces, the video at the top of the home page and the one about our nights are on our own domain: opening a page, your browser connects to no one else.

The videos with a player (three on the home page, one on Portfolio and one on Alberto Zen) are on Bunny, the video delivery service of BunnyWay d.o.o., a Slovenian company, with storage in Germany. The browser contacts it only when you press “play”: from then on Bunny sees, as with any connection to the internet, your IP address and the technical details of the browser, and sends you the video. Measured: no cookie appears.

Who hosts the site

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc.: its functions run in Frankfurt, and the pages reach you from the server of its network closest to you. To deliver them it processes the technical data of the connection, including the IP address: this is how any website normally works. The site’s database, where the form messages, the visit counts and the games are kept, belongs to Neon Inc., with the data in Frankfurt; the email notices are sent by Resend Inc.; the notices to the game’s moderators go through Telegram, a messaging service.

These providers process data on our behalf and only to make the site work. Vercel, Neon and Resend are United States companies and Telegram is based outside the European Union, so their services may also process data outside the Union: for Vercel, Neon and Resend the contracts apply the safeguards provided by the GDPR, the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Some pages point away from here: newspapers, ticket offices, promoters’ pages, our social profiles. They open in another tab, and the moment you enter them that site’s policy applies, not ours: we do not know what you do once you have left, and from there on we have no control.

Your rights

When it comes to your data, you can, at any time:

  • ask us which data we hold and what we do with it (access);
  • ask us to correct it, if it is wrong or incomplete (rectification);
  • ask us to delete it (erasure);
  • ask us to stop using it, or to limit its use (objection and restriction);
  • ask us for a copy in a format you can take elsewhere (portability).

To exercise them, just write to us at the contact details below: we reply ourselves, with no forms to fill in, and within 30 days we do what you ask. If you feel something is not right, you can also turn to the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, the Italian data protection authority.
